Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled General Manager to lead and oversee the operations, business development, and organizational optimization of a local Agency for one of our esteemed customers. Reporting directly to the Direction at the Head Office, this role involves representing the company's interests, promoting its image, and driving growth while ensuring alignment with corporate goals and standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership:
- Define and implement business structures based on targets set by the Head Office.
- Represent the Company in dealings with institutions and local governments.
- Act as a liaison between the Head Office and local teams to ensure adherence to global procedures and regulations.
- Business Development:
- Establish and maintain relationships with major customers, suppliers, and stakeholders.
- Identify new business opportunities in areas such as sales development, port services, logistics, and intermodal projects.
Conduct competitive intelligence to stay ahead of market trends.
- Operational Excellence:
- Lead organizational changes to optimize performance and achieve Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
- Ensure customer service excellence across all departments.
Oversee budget preparation and implementation, ensuring expenses remain within approved limits.
- Team Management:
- Set clear objectives for teams, monitor their progress, and measure impact.
- Develop team skills through effective leadership and training initiatives.
Foster a collaborative and motivated work environment.
- Reporting:
- Provide regular updates to the Head Office on performance metrics, results, and market conditions.
Monitor political and economic developments in the region to inform strategic decisions.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Educational Background:
- Master's degree in Sales, Logistics Management, Transport or a related field.
Strong knowledge of financial fundamentals.
- Professional Experience:
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in shipping or logistics.
Proven track record in managing teams and driving organizational success.
- Language Proficiency:
Fluency in English (written and oral) is essential; knowledge of French is highly advantageous.
- Key Competencies:
- Strategic vision with strong entrepreneurial skills.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and team management abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (e.g., Word, Excel).
